The 10th Quasi-Annual Metchosin Fruit Grafting Day

March 17 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

We continue the celebration of growing local fruit with our annual grafting in Metchosin!

Each year the Metchosin Pomological Society buys a variety of root stock and interested residents get together at the Community House to make new fruit trees from a wide variety of the local apple, pear  and stonefruit scionwood. This rootstock will create semi-dwarf trees which are very easy to prune, espalier, and pick from with out falling off a ladder  Each rootstock is $4.00 and we will supply all the grafting tape and materials.    After a short lesson you can graft your own or have an expert help you.

If you have an apple you want to share cut off some 1 year old shoots (no more than 1 foot long), label them with their attributes, store them in a tightly sealed plastic bag in the fridge and bring them with you.

If you have any questions please call Derek Wulff at 250-478-2677.
